Born in Germany, Dr. Kevin Maskell is the son of an Air Force pilot. He grew up mostly in South Jersey and attended Cornell University where he majored in mechanical engineering. Kevin joined the Air Force through ROTC in 1998 and did several tours in the Middle East. He flew the EC-130 Hercules ‘Compass Call’ as a navigator which was based out of Davis Monthan AFB in Tucson.
Kevin became interested in dentistry after his father-in-law had some dental implants placed in 2004. Hearing about the process awakened something in him and he knew he found a calling, never feeling this way about any of his undergraduate design projects. Working nights between deployments, he caught up on required course work and was accepted to Midwestern University College of Dental Medicine-Arizona where he graduated in 2012.
His post-graduate practice began with an Air Force Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency at Nellis AFB in Las Vegas. Upon completion Kevin moved his family back to Tucson where he enjoys working in a private practice. He loves the complexity of the human body and how dentistry is a marriage of materials science, engineering and artistry every day.
Now a Lieutenant Colonel in the Air Force Guard, Kevin has two children with his wife, Heather, who is a Tucson native and prominent attorney. His hobbies include cycling, opera/theater, coaching junior bowling and building Legos with his boys. His professional affiliations include the American Dental Association, Southern Arizona Dental Society, and the Academy of General Dentistry. He will join our staff beginning in January 2020. We welcome Dr. Maskell and his special skills and knowledge that will enhance your experience in our family dental practice.
